About the Target Center
Minneapolis, MN is the home of the Target Center. The venue opened in late 1990, and has never changed names since day one. In today’s world, this is quite the feat. It seems as if every sports arena changes its name from time to time as a way of making more money.
The Minnesota Lynx and Minnesota Timberwolves help to keep the Target Center busy and profitable throughout the year. Both of these professional basketball franchises play their home games at the Target Center.
For basketball games, the Target Center has one of the largest capacities in the United States at approximately 20,000. This makes for fun for the fans, and of course, for the players on the court. Concerts, hockey games, and other events have a slightly smaller capacity. Also, Target Center is one of three NBA arenas with parquet floors, including TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA, and Amway Arena in Orlando, FL.
Target Center can convert into a 7,500-seat theater known as the U.S. Bank Theater. The U.S. Bank Theater contains a moveable floor-to-ceiling curtain system that allows the venue to be transformed based on specific show needs. In addition to many concerts being featured at the venue, the Target Center's theater can also be used for musicals, family, and Broadway shows.
Minneapolis is a growing city, and with the help of the Target Center it is sure to reach all of its goals sooner rather than later.
